I had been a smoker for sixteen years. I would try to hide it and not tell people and I knew that it was not healthy for me, but I couldn't quit. I tried Welbutrin and that worked for about a year, but something stressful happened and I got off course. When I got pregnant I was able to quit, but four months after my son's birth, outside influences and people smoking around me made me go back to it. I told myself that I could smoke and then stop, but then it turned out that I couldn't. I tried to quit with cold turkey and I would be able to go without smoking for a day and then I would smoke again.
I did a search online and found A New Day Hypnosis on citysearch. Someone in my office had used hypnosis to stop smoking, so I knew that it could help me with quitting. I was a little bit hesitant to try the medications because of things that I've heard, so I wanted to try this first.
I quit after the first session and it was really instantaneous for me. I came in with an open mind, but I have been surprised that it worked as well as it did and as quickly as it did for me. It was pretty easy and that was really amazing to me. I noticed in the days after my appointment that I didn't have cravings, nervousness, or anxiousness to have a cigarette.
I've been tobacco free for five weeks now. Considering that smoking was part of my life for more than half of my life, cutting it out so easily has been really great for me. I went to the doctor and my blood pressure has gone back to the normal range. I feel like I have more energy and feel better about myself because I'm going to the gym and taking better care of my body. I feel more in control and I have some good tools to work with to get around situations that would make me want to smoke. I feel more confident because I don't feel like I have to hide something anymore. I like having the sessions to go back to and know that they will be there for me as long as I need them.
It's been really helpful to talk with Laura about the underlying reasons behind wanting to smoke. I understand now that it's more than just an addiction to tobacco. I would recommend A New Day Hypnosis because it worked really well for me. I am confident that I am a nonsmoker permanently because I am really focused on my goals. I've come this far and I plan to continue with it.
